SOX BUST ANAHYMEN IN BACK AND FORTH STRUGGLE

A back and forth struggle induced by shitty pitching on the parts of Suppan and Lackey. Suppan made his second Sox debut (his 30th Sox start overall) and dissapointed. Maybe Duquette was right in beleiving Suppan to be incapable of pitching in a big market. Time will tell but I still love the trade Theo made to get him and square up the Lyon-Sauerbeck deal.
Todd Jones has dissapointed as well. His ERA is 8.16 with us which is only 0.08 lower than when he was with Colorodo. I really wish people would stop calling our bullpen one of the best in baseball until it proves itself. Sauerbeck and Williamson haven't been all I thought they could be, Kim can't beat the Y*nkees, and the rest are far too inconsistent.
I'm glad Grady used Jackson in last night's game. I think Damian should be in every game in some capacity because his speed is terrific. He can also releive players who need rest as he can play 7 positions.
David "Not Walter" McCarty made his Sox debut last night coming in as a defensive replacement for "Moose" Millarthra in the 9th. He is a defensive replacement and nothing more. He made 1 play at first and got an assist which was nearly an error or infield hit depending on the official scorer's scoring. He is a career .236 hitter and probably won't (or at least shouldn't but Giambi saw fAR too much action as well) have too many plate appearances. McCarty was signed off waivers from Oakland. He replaces Jeremy Giambi who was placed on the 15-Day DL with "shoulder tendinitis."
Suppan took the roster spot of utility man Lou "Coal Carrier" Collier. Ever read Romeo & Juliet. Well he has vowed he shall not carry this coal for then he would be a collier.
I love Bill Mueller batting second. I don't know if this was his first game doing so becasue I was away, but I think it is a good move. Mueller is hot, Walker is not.
The Man of the Game was another tough one with so much offense. I knew that no pitcher will win it. Garciaparra will receive an unprecedented 6th MOTG award. He went 2 for 5 with a 3 run blast in the 3rd that really jumpstarted the Red Army Rally. He had 3 RBI and scored twice. He also stole his 14th base which is the most he's had since 1999 with quite a few games left to match his career high of 22 which he got in his rookie year of 1997. It is very safe to say Nomar is healthy from his wrist injury. Here are the MOTG standings after 43 awarded:

The Y*nkees won against Texas and Oakland beat Detroit. With our two playoff rivals playing shit teams, we need to do well against Anaheim, especially since we had our piss poor 2-4 road trip.
Speaking of New York, they acquired Jeff Nelson from Seattle for Armando Benitez and cash. It must have been alot of cash. I'm surprised we didn't do something to block this waiver deal. Certainly we could have put together a better package than Benitez and a few million dollars. But Seattle is a corporately owned team and cares only for profits. The M's wanted to get rid of Nelson anyway but c'mon, Benitez? They're gonna choke badly I think. They made no moves at the deadline which really disspaointed their players and this deal will make things worse. Money really doesn't do alot to win World Series unless you use it to pay players like New York does. Seattle already makes plenty of money and pull in the second most gross profit among baseball teams behind New York. I wonder how high the Y*nkees payroll is now. And if you count the cash they've used to make deals, they might eclipse over $200 million spent by the end of the season, not counting playoff bonuses. The Y*nkees cut a few million of their payroll by replacing Benitez with Nelson, but the cash makes up for the difference. Essentially, a straight up trade of Nelson, a fantastic and playoff experienced set-up man for a closer known to choke in big games. But it's not as if Seattle will have to play in any big games, however. They just go to Y*nkee stadium for 3, play the Red Sox 7 times, and of course, 6 games against Oakland including a season ending 3 game home stand. Oakland will win the division, Seattle will finish behind us for the Wild Card. No wonder the M's have never won a pennant.
Looking at Seattle's schedule, their last 9 games are against Oakland and Anaheim, both of which were known to be possibly contending with Seattle for the divisional title. How come we haven't played New York in the last week of the season recently? THAT would be wicked exciting.
The Arsenal, which I am officially dubbing the Red Sox sister team, have tied Glasgow Celtic 1-1 in Glasgow and crushed the Glasgow Rangers 3-0 also in Glasgow. They also drew with KSK Beverem 2-2 in Belgium. The final friendly of the off season is the annual Charity Shield between the Premiereship champions and the runner-up. This year it will be Arsenal as runner-up and Manchester United as champions. The match is Sunday at Cardiff's Millenium Stadium. Kick-off is set for 2pm GMT which is 9 am EST. I can't wait.
