POSITION PLAYERS REPORT
That's about it.

EMBREE WANTS NEW DEAL
The only left handed pitcher (besides McCarty, haha) wants the Sox to give him a new contract.

Globe article

Basically he wants a longer term deal. At the moment he is signed with Boston for the remainder of the season with an option next year triggered by his making 50 appearances. With Foulke, Timline, and Williamson all competing to pitch the final innings of games, whether or not he gets 50 is still up in the air but I think he will. The Sox need him and should sign him long term.

BRUINS LOSE, FINALLY
Luongo played a great game and shutout the Bruins 2-0. They are playing the Islanders tonight in Nassau in a very important game for playoff seeding. The remaining 19 regular season games are very important for seeding. The Bruins are all but in the playoffs but getting home ice and playing weaker opponents could be crucial to any success the B's wish to attain.

SUPER 8
Yes I'm out of Massachusetts and yes I'm out of high school. But there's something about Mass. HS hockey that is wicked awsome. Here are the seeds for this year's prestigious D-1A Super 8 tournament

1. Catholic Memorial
2. BC High
3. Arlington Catholic
4. Hingham
5. Waltham
6. St. John's Fags
7. Belmont
8. Duxbury
9. Billerica
10. Framingham

X-MEN WINTER SPORTS
My alma mater, Xaverian Brothers High School, is the 8th seed in the D1 South basketball tourney. The HawX host Attelboro tonight. If they win, they'll play top seeded Silver Lake Thursday.

The hockey team will also be in the D1 tournament probably. They're ranked 14th by the Globe and 8 of the teams ahead of them are in the Super 8.

UVM TO JOIN HOCKEY EAST
The best conference in college hockey will add a 10th team in 2005-06. Vermont will move from the ECAC to Hockey East filling up the conference ranks with another good hockey school. This also adds a third team north of Massachusetts.
