SOX 3-0 THUS FAR
Boston RS 5
Minnesota Twins 3
Mayor's Cup Game
Every year the two teams that call Ft. Myers home for their spring training programs play each other quite a bit. The winner of this series receives the Mayor's Cup. The Red Sox could use a piece of hardware to start off the season the right way.
The Sox were down and rallied from behind. Here are some notable Sox performances:
Andy Dominique: 1 for 2, R, RBI, HR
Cesar Crespo: 1 for 2, R, RBI
Pokey Reese: 1 for 2, R
Doubles by Daubach and Ortiz
D-Lowe: 2 perfect innings, K, 5 gorundouts, 13/17 pitches were strikes,
Hebson: perfect 9th inning, 2 Ks
Obviously D-Lowe was the star of the game. Last year he had a slow start due to his cancerous nose. This year he is ready to go when the others are. Look for a big year from him. He's healthy, and he's a free agent next season. D-Lowe, Pedro and Schilling might win 60+ games this year. Throw in decent years from Kim and Wakefield and the starting staff might win 90. That would be fantastic.
BC Eagles 3
Boston RS (SS) 9
NU Huskies 0
Boston RS (SS) 7
Schilling made his Red Sox debut going 3 scoreless with 3 Ks and only allowing 3 hits. He threw 36 pitches, 28 were strikes.
I'm not going to analyze these games because they were against college teams. However, I've always been a fan of the annual BC game and I love the fact that the Sox added another local school without affecting the schedule. Just think of how thrilling it was for those 3 NU Huskies who got a hit off of Schilling.
The Sox play the Twins tommorrow at 1:05 at their complex. Sunday they play the scum in Ft. Myers. They are 3-0 overall, 1-0 in the Grapefruit League and 1-0 in the Mayor's Cup.
GONCHAR AND THORNTON BEAT RANGERS
3-1. Thornton had 2 and Gonchar added the other. The Bruins also got Michael Nylander from the Caps. He'll be a 2nd line forward. They're looking good for the playoff run. 13 more points and they're definately in the playoffs no matter what. They host Atlanta tomorrow at 7.
The Celtics beat Washington. And there was much rejoicing.
PATS LOSE WOODY AND WASHINGTON
Woody to Detroit and Washington to Oakland. I still have faith.

BRUINS LOSE A GAME, GAIN A DEFENSEMAN
We lost 3-2 to the Maple Leafs but the Bruins surprisingly made a move for Sergei Gonchar. gonchar was leading the Capitals in assists and points as well as ice time. The Bruins traded a 1st and 2nd round pick as well as D Shaone Morrison. I think this is a great deal that gives us a potent offensive punch from the blue line. 15 games elft, Bruins are in 5th but are only 2 points behind the top seed. They play the Rangers in Boston Thursday.
Story
BONDS AND 2 Y*NKEES RECEIVED STEROIDS
According to the San Francisco Chronicle's sources, Barry Bonds, Gary Sheffield, and Jason Giambi received steroids from BALCO, which has been indicted for illegal possession of steroids. Once again, scum always sinks to the bottom. Are the allegations true? I don't know. But there are allegations. Class act Bill Romanowski was also named as receiving steroids.

XBHS LOSES IN D1 SOUTH QUARTERFINALS
2-1 loss to Braintree. Oh well.
FOX MOVES INTOMPRIME-TIME BASEBALL
In an unprecedented move, Fox has decided to move up its nationally televised games 5 weeks to April 16. Furthermore, the game will be on a Friday night. The game is, of course, between the Red Sox and Y*nkees. The game is sold-out. The start time has been moved back an hour to 8 PM. I might be coming home for this one, folks. Although, it'd be the second straight weekend I come home for baseball.

FOULKE STRIANED HIS CALF, APPARENTLY
On the first day of training. He's rehabbing it though. No big deal. Damon has also been rehabbing a minor injury to his left elbow.
Happy birthday mom!

PEDRO PITCHES OFF MOUND
Number of pitches: 49
Quality of pitches: "ridiculous" (Dave Wallace)
Plan: 1 more bullpen session, 2 live BPs, game around March 10
Ramiro "Ice Cream" Mendoza is rehabbing a strained abdominal muscle and threw softly in the outfield. Take your time "Ice Cream."
SUPER 8 RESULTS
Arlington Catholic 4
St. John's Prep for Fags 3
Waltham 3
Hingham 0
Catholic Memorial 6
Duxbury 0
(Jesus!)
BC High 10
Belmont 2
(Holy fucking Jesus!)
The Boston Globe ran a few articles talking about how public schools could make their presence known in the Super 8 this year. I doubt it. So do Duxbury and Belmont.
Wednesday's games:
Arlington Catholic vs. Belmont
Duxbury vs. Hingham
Catholic Memorial vs. Waltham
St. John's Fags vs. BC High Fags
Look for AC and CM to blow out their public school opponents.

BRUINS WIN IN OT
Bruins 3, Flyers 2 OT
Huuuuge win for the Bruins although had it come in regulation, we'd be a mere point behind top seeded Philadelphia. Oh well.
SCHILLING TOSSES BP
First live batting practice Schilling has thrown with Boston. He threw 45 pitches.
URI GOT SCREWED
Did anyone see this game. #2 St. Joe's should have lost to the Rams but the refs fucked it up. So many bullshit calls on URI and very few calls on SJU. I really dislike St. Joe's. They're not the 2nd best team in the country. Yes, they're undefeated, but who have they beaten? If they were in the ACC, they'd have 5 or 6 losses already. Let's look at St. Joe's pussy schedule:
Gonzaga (in NYC, exhibition game)
@ Boston
@ Old Dominion
San Francisco
@ Penn
Boston College
@ Drexel
@ Cal
Pacific
@Deleware
G. Washington
@ Richmond
@ Duquesne
Fordham
@ Xavier
UMass
@ St. Bonaventure
@ Temple
@ Villanova
La Salle
Dayton
Rhode Island
@ Fordham
Temple
@ UMass
@ Rhode Island
St Bonaventure
This schedule is a joke. Apart from Gonzaga, there are no ranked teams. And that was a freaking exhibition. Mark my words, St. joe's will not make it out of their pod.
XAVERIAN HOCKEY ROLLS
#14 XBHS 3
Barnstable 0
The HawX play #19 Braintree Monday night in Watertown. The winner will play the winner of the Springfield Cathedral/Bridgewater-Raynham game. Two years ago we played Braintree late in the tournament. I remember chanting the name of a Braintree High dropout who raped a girl. Funny stuff. Not rape, the chant I mean.
HOCKEY EAST TOURNAMENT APPROACHES
Speaking of amateur hockey tournaments, the Hockey East tournament is coming up. with two games remaining, boston College has a 5 point lead over Maine and has clinched the top seed which means they'll host the #8 seed 2 out of 3 games in the quarterfinal series. Maine has clinched the 2nd seed. UMass and UNH are battling for third with UMass holding an edge. PC, Merrimack, and UMass-Lowell are competing for the 5th seed. BU and Northeastern are battling for the last available spot as the 8th seed. Here are the possible pairings for the quarterfinal series:
#8 BU or NU or UMass-Lowell @ #1 Boston College
#7 BU or UMass-Lowell @ #2 Maine
#6 Merrimack or PC or UMass-Lowell or BU @ #3 UMass or UNH
#5 PC or Merrimack @ #4 UNH or UMass
The Globe has new spring training pics on their sports site including a nice pic of Damon's scrubness and Nomar wearing a Patriots champions t-shirt.
Celtics won their second straight game. WOW!
